Names of runners on bibs-very personable. Individual cheering posters for each runner along course. Very laid back and very easy to meet and talk to all runners.
The big boosters were the runners on the trail. They could see your name on your bib, as we made the 4 loops of the course. The Concrete trail was shady and the cool breeze off Lake Houston kept it cool.
Could use more porta potties.
I plan to do it again.

I really enjoyed the scenary but it was really tough running alone. Not too many runners going my pace. It was too tempting to stop running...especially at each the end of each loop (by my car). However, it was fun to see other runners I recognized coming the other way. Everybody was very friendly.

Steve and Paula Boone do an excellent job of putting this race on, as is evidenced by the positive comments seen here thus far. Despite the repitition of doing four loops, the course is very scenic. It follows a paved footpath through the woods, past palmetto bushes, at one point under an overpass, next to a bay, and around a lake. Course support is placed evenly apart, and generous. Pleanty of nice picnic food at the end, and perfect weather for a marathon in the this year's version as well.

This was my 1st marathon back after back surgery. Even though I walked most of it enjoying the scenary. This was the best, course was fabulous, the no time limit was the best. Steve and Paula and all the volunteers THANK YOU, HATS OFF on a great job. This was just what I needed to get back into the full swing, lovely way to start the new year.

Well organized, great and friendly voulnteers-kind of them to spend New Year's Day voulnteering. Having our names on our bibs was a great idea as it allowed other runners to offer encouragement. Runners were also friendly-Steve Boone even ran with me and several other runners while talking about the race. Nice trails and scenery. I even saw a small home next to the lake that I might look into buying.

This is the first small marathon (< 100 runners) I've done. In fact, it was my fourth marathon and it was great (a PR!!). Kudos go to Steve & Paula Boone for a great race.
The race is run on the greenbelt trails through Kingwood, TX. Though this doesn't allow for much spectator support, the volunteers were great and frequent. I enjoyed the course and will be back again next year.

A Runner from Humble, TX (10/10/02)
The course is very flat and scenic. It does have 4 loops, but every time you see something different, so it doesn't seem the same. There is water and powerade every 1 1/2 miles, and food and goodies at the turnaround. It's a lot like an ultra with the food they have. I like the free picnic at the finish line. It's a great way to spend New Year's Day.
