It's small but awesome! (about: 2001)|
A Runner from Boulder, Colorado (9/4/01)
Maybe I'm biased having lived the last 30-plus years in Colorado, but this was the best marathon of the six I've run (including Boston and Chicago). The race is primarily on well-groomed, leg- friendly trails, covers mostly rolling (and occasionally challenging) hills, and goes through some of the most spectacular scenery the state has to offer. For such a small race (306 entrants), there were lots of volunteers, plenty of water stations, and a fair number of vocal spectators. Plus, they give prize money to the top three finishers! I'd be surprised if this race isn't at least twice as big next year.
