Terrific organization makes for a great race. (about: 2008)

I had a great day at the Space Coast Marathon. This was the best organized race I've ever done. There are so many aid stations, and all of them after the halfway mark have gels too. I loved getting a beach towel at the end.

BEAUTIFUL COURSE BUT LONELY 2ND HALF! (about: 2008)

The course is beautiful and I love the two equal 13-mile loops. The second half is very lonely though... hardly any runners and even fewer spectators. They do a great job with the water and GU stations every mile throughout the the second loop. I would definitely consider doing this race again. Weather was windy but the perfect temperature for me... maybe a little warm for out-of-state runners.

Loved the half almost entirely. (about: 2008)

I did this half as part of my training for my full in Phoenix in January. I really loved the course, the big, cool medal, and the after-race buffet. Just a gorgeous course the entire way! A few very small hills kept it interesting. The medal is a massive astronaut - very impressive! I couldn't believe the spread at the finish! They were making pancakes fresh on the spot! They also had bagels, sweets, fruit, and all kinds of drinks! Fabulous!

Now, just some very minor items that can be improved on. At the second water stop, the volunteer was alone and didn't have the cups out of the sleeve nor any drinks poured. We waited around for about half a minute and took off. The other suggestion would be to have more seating at the pasta dinner. We came in about an hour into it and there was not a seat to be had, very little pasta, and hardly any drinks. We took our plates out by the pool and listened to the one-man band out there. I would, without hesitation, recommend this run though. Super! Thanks!

Great course, well-organized, small-town feel (about: 2008)

This was my second marathon and first Space Coast Marathon. It was extremely well-organized by Running Zone and the volunteers were the best. Plenty of aid stations, water, Gatorade and GU along the way. Quiet, shaded, residential, scenic course along the river - mostly flat with minor hills. And a great finish at a beautiful riverfront park with excellent breakfast food and music and pumped-up race organizers. I'll never forget one woman at the finish line asking me, "What's your bib number, sexy?" And it was a PR for me.

The best (out of a couple hundred) race I've done (about: 2008)

If you can't enjoy this race, you need a new hobby. Your name is on your bib, and people encourage you by name the whole time. Aid was perfect. Organization was perfect. The course was just plain gorgeous. I usually do trail runs, but have done everything from Old Kent to Peachtree, and I have never had such a good experience at any race.

Thank God for the Volunteers (about: 2008)

This was my first marathon and I was lucky enough to take second in my age group. Not many spectators, but the volunteers made up for them. At my lowest moments they were helpful, encouraging, and I felt they were the real spectators. Very organized, pretty flat course, and an exciting finish line - of what I could remember! (I was exhausted.) Tons of water, Gatorade and GU. The only con was feeling alone a lot in the second half (not many runners around me), but it was a fantastic event and an experience that I WILL NEVER FORGET.

Great post-Turkey Day fun! (about: 2008)

This run is small, but that's the best kind for me! My sister-in-law ran the half and her husband ran the full based on my enthusiastic reviews of it from last year, and they had a great time too. The support is more than adequate (more GU than anyone should ever need). It's beautiful to see the ocean as you are running, and if there aren't a whole lot of spectators at points, it allows you the time to appreciate the view. There are plenty of people cheering you on at the end and the run into the park is fun. I can't thank everyone out there enough for helping me have a great day.

Small town race with big race feel (about: 2008)

What an amazing HALF marathon! Well organized, with a beautiful course and so much value for your entry fee. We received 2 meals (pre-race dinner, post-race breakfast); a long-sleeve tech shirt; a full-size beach towel with the race logo; and a GIANT and beautiful finisher's medal. The space theme was awesome, too. Volunteers were so friendly and helpful and the course support was excellent. We'll be back for sure!

Great half, but lonley full. Slanted roads. (about: 2008)

4-5 previous marathons | 1 Space Coast Marathon

This is a fun small race, but I recommend the half marathon, not the full. Out of 2,000 runners, maybe 500 do the marathon so it gets pretty lonely out on the course after mile 13. The course is on a beautiful, tree-lined street along with water. It gets pretty windy, but the breeze is refreshing. My only real complaint, aside from the marathon being so small, is that the road is extremely slanted, especially on the second half, and you can't really avoid the slant by running in the middle. I had to stop and walk for three miles because my knee couldn't take it after 22 miles on the same slope. Otherwise, its a good race if you want something that's not too crowded.

Great race and walker-friendly (about: 2007)

I did the half marathon here 2 years ago and enjoyed it so much that when I read the time limit would be extended to 7 hours, I jumped at the chance to do the full in 2007. It's a beautiful, serene course, spectators are neighbors who come out to cheer people on, and, despite last year's heat, it was a great deal of fun. The pasta dinner is good and the speakers are top-notch. There is a handy shuttle to the start from area hotels (so I don't have to wake my sleeping husband for a ride in the wee hours). An all-round good time!
