More than 5000 runners already registered

Three months before the official registration deadline of February 27th the
organization committee has already received over 5000 entries, which is
more than the total number of participants in the first marathon in the
spring of 2003. Almost 70% of the registered runners for the Zurich
Marathon 2004 participated in the first race in 2003. A high percentage of
registered participants (62%) live in the canton Zurich, and as of today,
runners from 22 different countries have already signed up.

Due to the fact that the first Zurich Marathon held on April 13, 2003 was
such a huge success, the organizing committee has decided to increase the
allowable number of runners by 40% to 7000 - and it looks as if the second
staging of the largest Swiss city marathon will again be booked out by the
registration deadline. Therefore, the organizing committee recommends that
all interested athletes sign up within the coming days or weeks. To secure
a spot, runners can register online at www.zurichmarathon.com. The first
Zurich Marathon was booked out 5 weeks before the official registration
deadline. Many interested runners did not expect such a high demand and
were disappointed when the maximum amount of participants was reached
