                    The Inaugural Sarasota Marathon and 
           The Mote Marine 5K Turtle Run Team up for Race Weekend

The Sarasota Marathon Committee would like to announce the newest 
relationship merger between the Mote Marine 5K Turtle Run and the inaugural 
2006 Sarasota Marathon Grouper Run.  The 5K Turtle Run will be celebrating 
its 20th Anniversary during marathon weekend and is a special addition to 
Sarasota’s first marathon weekend.  Because of this merger, the weekend 
will be complete with a 5K, half marathon and the full 26.2 mile run.  
 
The proceeds from the 5K will go towards the research and conservation of 
sea turtles at the Mote Marine facility located at 1600 Ken Thompson 
Parkway in Sarasota, Florida.  For more information on the work that is

The Sarasota Marathon Grouper Run is an independent, non-profit 
organization formed by Lisette Riveron, who is an avid runner and 
marathoner in the area.  She has been focused on bringing a marathon to the 
west coast of Florida and promoting the beautiful area we call home.  The 
proceeds of the marathon will be donated to the Bari Brooks Center for 
Teens, the YMCA’s Youth Shelter, and the YMCA Transitional Living Programs 
for runaway and homeless youth.  The marathon is a chance for showcase 
Sarasota, Florida as a place to visit, live and run.
