Parkview Whitley Hospital & Three Rivers Running Company
Sponsoring Second Annual Veterans Marathon
Parkview Whitley Hospital and Three Rivers Running Company have signed on
as the two title sponsors for the second annual Veterans Marathon and
Half-Marathon, scheduled for Nov. 13, 2010, in Columbia City.
Last year's inaugural event drew nearly 400 runners. Based on its success,
numbers are expected to rise this year. A 5-kilometer race is also being
added to the event.
"We are excited to announce the support of Parkview Whitley Hospital and
Three Rivers Running Company," said Gary Bird, race organizer.
"Parkview Whitley Hospital has been a long-time sponsor of local running
and walking events, and is an integral part of the Columbia City
community," said Bird. "Its promotion of fitness and healthy lifestyles
match well with the goals of the Veterans Marathon."
According to Bird, Three Rivers Running Company is now recognized as the
leader among northeast Indiana businesses that cater to runners.
"Their wide selection of shoes and running attire, along with the
professional knowledge and expertise of its sales staff, provide a great
resource for runners," said Bird.
"We are glad to have the opportunity to sponsor the race," said Josh
Brunson of the Three Rivers Running Company. "The Veterans Marathon fits
well within our portfolio of sponsored events as the only marathon distance
event we sponsor."
Other events sponsored by Three Rivers Running Company in 2010 include two
track meets, triathlons, and road races ranging from 5 kilometers to a
half-marathon (13.1 miles).
"The Veterans Marathon generated many positive comments last year," said
Brunson. "We feel good about sponsoring a race that provides positive
experiences for its participants."
Both sponsors will have booths at the Veterans Marathon Expo before and
during the race.
