Marine Corps Marathon Opens Registration on March 7 Celebration in
Rosslyn at Noon Precedes Registration Launch at 3 p.m.
QUANTICO, VA (March 5, 2012) - The much-anticipated opening of registration
for the 37th Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) occurs on Wednesday, March 7 at 3
p.m. EST on the MCM website at www.marinemarathon.com. In 2011, MCM
registration closed in a record 28 hours driving the MCM name to the top of
the Google trends list.
Registration for the 37th MCM is just $92, considerably less than many
other U.S. marathons. The 37th MCM will be held on Sunday, Oct. 28 in
Northern Virginia and throughout the nation's capital.
"We are pleased to have only increased registration costs by just $4 over
the past five years," says Rick Nealis MCM Director. "Even with rising
prices throughout the economy and within the running industry, the Marine
Corps Marathon has been able to minimize costs for its participants while
hosting a world-class event."
Earlier in the day, the MCM celebrates its registration in Rosslyn, VA from
noon to 1:30 p.m. on N. Lynn Street near Metro Park between 19th
Street and Wilson Blvd. The MCM Registration Roadshow features the MCM
team, Miles the bulldog mascot, giveaways, prizes, vintage MCM shirt
giveaways and entertainment by Mix 107.3 FM. The Registration Roadshow is
free and open to the running and non-running public as a thank you to the
finish line host community.
About the MCM: Voted the "Best Marathon for Families" and the "Best
Marathon in the Mid Atlantic," the Marine Corps Marathon honors the
dedication, sportsmanship and patriotism of its participants. Runners from
all walks of life participate in the largest marathon not to offer prize
money, earning the name "The People's Marathon." The 37th MCM will be held
on October 28, 2012 in Arlington, VA. No federal or Marine Corps
endorsement is implied.
