Reston VA Running Store to Receive Marine Corps Marathon Award This Week
Potomac River Running Tops All Maryland, Virginia and
DC Running Stores in 2010
QUANTICO, VA (Feb. 7, 2011) - The Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) will present
the Potomac River Running store of Reston, VA the 2010 Team Running Store
Award. Potomac River Running won the Team Running Store Competition held
during the 35th MCM on Oct. 31, 2010. The winning store topped 10 retailers
who registered runners to represent their locations in Maryland,
Washington, D.C. and Virginia.
The award will be presented at 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 10 to the
winning team and Potomac River Running store owners Ray and Cathy Pugsley
and Margie and Brendan Shapiro at the Reston store located at 11911
Results are determined by combining the finishing times of each store's
fastest three runners, including at least one runner of both genders.
Potomac River Running's winning team members are Adam Condit of Ashburn,
VA, who finished the MCM in 2:31:00, Aaron Schwartzbard of Reston, VA,
(2:44:00) and Deedee Loughran of Oak Hill, VA, (3:19:43). In addition to
leading the running store team, Condit also placed eighth overall among
13,248 men running the 35th MCM.
MCM Operations Manager Bret Schmidt and MCM mascot Miles the bulldog will
present the award during the event that is free and open to the public.

Voted the best marathon for families, the Marine Corps Marathon honors the
dedication, sportsmanship and patriotism of its participants. Runners from
all walks of life participate in the largest marathon not to offer prize
money, earning the name "The People's Marathon." The MCM is the fifth
largest marathon in the United States and the ninth largest in the world.
The 36th MCM will be held on October 30, in Arlington, VA. No federal or
Marine Corps endorsement is implied.
