Community First Fox Cities Marathon Celebrates
20th Annual Race Weekend With Kick-Off Event
APPLETON, WI - The Community First Fox Cities Marathon is celebrating the
20th annual weekend of races with a Kick-off Event, which will be held on
Thursday, April 29 at the Radisson Paper Valley Hotel in Appleton. The
evening begins at 5 p.m. with a social hour, followed by announcements and
race updates starting at 6:00 p.m. The featured speaker will be Doug
Kurtis, who won the first two Fox Cities Marathons in 1991 and 1992.
Kurtis is also the world record holder for the most sub-2:20 marathons.
Kurtis' topic for the evening is "Motivation and Courage" and his lively
talk promises to inspire runners and walkers at any level.
NOTE: The Kick-Off Event will be preceded by a Press Conference at 4:00
p.m. at the Radisson Paper Valley Hotel in the Grand Ballroom. Major event
announcements and a new event name and logo will released to the media at
that time.
The Community First Fox Cities Marathon provides a healthy weekend of five
running or walking events for any age or ability. With over 7,100
participants in 2009, the 20th annual event is set for September 17-19,
2010. As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, the Fox Cities Marathon
partners with area charities and donates any proceeds to area non-profit
