Training Begins For Community First Fox Cities Marathon Festival of Races
APPLETON, WI – Training runs held by the Pacesetters of the Fox Cities plus
a variety of training plans and information available on the Fox Cities
Marathon website are helping to prepare area runners and walkers for the
Community First Fox Cities Marathon Festival of Races on September 20-21,
2008.
The Pacesetters of the Fox Cities will begin free Training Runs this
Sunday, June 1 at 6 a.m. at UW-Fox Valley on Midway Road in Menasha. The
first run, which is 8 miles for those training for a marathon and 4 miles
for people training for a half marathon, increases in mileage at each
training run to help prepare participants for their desired race distance.
Training Run participants should meet near the Barlow Planetarium at UW-Fox
Valley, with access from University Dr. and parking in the west lot. The
Training Run series, held every other weekend during the summer, culminates
with the Cheesehead Half Marathon on September 7 and the Community First
Fox Cities Marathon Festival of Races on September 20-21. More information

Printable training plans for the marathon, half marathon, 13.1 mile walk
and 5K are available at no cost on the Fox Cities Marathon website. More
detailed training plans are also available for purchase on the Fox Cities
Marathon website through the Active Network and feature customized training
plans, weekly tips, message boards, and daily training emails.
The Community First Fox Cities Marathon provides a health-focused weekend
of six events for any age or ability. With over 5,400 participants in
2007, the 18th annual event is set for September 20-21, 2008 and
participants are expected from nearly 40 states and 4 or more countries.
