Janet Cherobon-Bawcom Completed Unprecedented Double in Boston
(Back-to-Back at B.A.A. Half and Tufts 10K)
Janet Cherobon-Bawcom (1:11:58 at yesterday's 11th Annual B.A.A. Half
Marathon, presented by Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund), of
Rome, Georgia, returned today on the Columbus Day holiday to win the USATF
National 10K championship at the Tufts Health Plan 10K for Women (32:47).
It was an unprecedented day of back-to-back performances, as both races
have been held on Sunday/Monday since the B.A.A. Half Marathon's inception
in 2001. The Tufts Health Plan 10K for Women had its 35th running today
(10-10-11).Both races are held in Boston on back-to-back days. Both events
are considered among the top US national road races.
Cherobon-Bawcom has been one of the top US racers on the roads this year,
winning numerous US championships. (She was second at the B.A.A. Half
Marathon in 2010.)
