Road Runner Akron Marathon Announces the Appointment of
Marketing Director and Operations Director

Akron, OH – The Road Runner Akron Marathon is proud to announce the
addition of Anne Bitong as Marketing Director and Amy Freeman as Operations
Director for the event. Chris Roman will be leaving the marathon staff
effective December 31st. "Chris has done an exceptional job, contributing
significantly to the success of the marathon; she will be greatly missed,
"said Steve Marks, Founder.

Both Bitong and Freeman are experienced and respected within the
organization, having both worked on the event since its inaugural year, and
will be essential in continuing their mission to provide a world-class race
in the city of Akron. "Each has proven leadership, unique experiences and a
strong background and passion not only for the event but the city as well.
We are very excited to have them on board," said Jim Barnett, Executive
Race Director.

As Marketing Director, Bitong will be managing relationships with sponsors,
developing marketing strategies and coordinating public relations for the
event. She previously held the position of Sales and Marketing Director at
Main Street Gourmet and served as co-chair of the volunteer committee. "It
is an honor to be part of this amazing event and I look forward to
celebrating the race's 5-year anniversary with the runners and our City,"
Bitong said.

Freeman's responsibilities as Operations Director include: runner services
and runner registration, committee support, volunteers and general
operations related to the race. She has held the position of volunteer
coordinator at the finish line and served on the course and volunteer
committees for the past four years. "I am extremely proud to be a part of
the organization and feel this is a fantastic opportunity to provide more
comprehensive coverage and support in the planning and preparation for the
race," Freeman said.

The Road Runner Akron Marathon has cemented itself in the community and
continues to see outstanding growth. They are dedicated to the needs of the
runners, volunteers, sponsors and the community.
