FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Air Force Marathon Filling Faster Than Ever
Despite adding an extra thousand slots, the Air Force Marathon is going to
sell out faster than anyone expected.
"We're a little surprised at how fast the full and half marathons are
filling up," said Molly Louden, Race Director. "We are growing in
popularity every year, which means runners need to register earlier if they
want to particpate."
The full marathon is at 90 percent and the half is at 80 percent. Once a
race category is full, it is closed. No new applicants will be accepted
and even current registrants will not be allowed to switch from one
category to another.
The 10k and 5k runs are also filling rapidly, but not like the full and
half. The 10k is currently at 50 percent of capacity and the 5k is near 40
percent.
"We want to ensure everyone knows that if you want to get into the race of
your choice, you better act fast," Ms. Louden said.
Another reason to register now is the price increase that goes into effect
on June 2. Any remaining full and half marathon slots that have not sold by
June 2 will increase by $10, while 10K slots will increase by $5.
The Air Force Marathon will host 13,000 runners this year and inject more
than $4 million into the local economy. For more information on Air Force
Marathon events or to register, visit www.usafmarathon.com.
