Salt Lake City Marathon costs OK'd

The Salt Lake City Council decided Tuesday that the $50,000 it will spend on police overtime for the inaugural Salt Lake City Marathon in April is a good investment. About 5,000 runners will participate in the marathon or 5K run April 24. More than half will come from outside Utah, and presumably will stay in hotels and eat at restaurants in the city.
