   Runners take on tough trek at Haulin Aspen (Bend Bulletin)
Bends Ryan Bak, 33, was long gone by the time many of his competitors reached the finish line at Wanoga Sno-Park, winning the race in 2:49:11 to beat runner-up Brandon Drake, also of Bend, by 35 minutes. Bak, who also won the Haulin Aspen marathon last August, carved more than nine minutes off his time from 2014.

   Haulin’ Aspen Marathon a tough climb, not a walk in the park (Bend Bulletin.com)
The women's race of the 2008 Haulin' Aspen Marathon whose course gains 2,500 feet in elevation was won in 3:14:13 by three-time champion, Kami Semick. Semick won unchallenged as runner-up Heather Daniel finished in 3:37:18 and third-place female finisher was Anna Tall in 4:27:09. The men’s marathon was won by Timothy Vandervlugt who also set a new course record in 3:03:17. Douglas Lang was second in a time of 3:10:22 and Gerad Dean third in 3:10:58.
