Full Set of New Records at Houston Marathon & Half-Marathon
(Race Results Weekly) Ethiopians won all the top spots at the 2012 Houston Marathon, setting new course records. Ethiopian Feyisa Lilesa clocked 59:22 in the half-marathon, to beat Ryan Hall's 2007 course record of 49:43. His was the fourth-fastest half-marathon ever on U.S. soil. Belaynesh Oljira earned 1:08:26 in the women's half marathon, beating Shalane Flanagan's 2010 course record. In the marathon Ethiopia's Tariku Jufar earned a course record of 2:06:51 (previous 2:07:04) and Alemitu Abera won the women's marathon, beating the course record by 39 seconds with a time of 2:23:14.
