		Meissner, Shelton take Crater Lake run (Mail Tribune) The 2008 Crater Lake Rim saw upset in the men's race as leader Chuck Engle missed a turnaround two miles from the finish line and Sean Meissner won in 2:55:47. Todd Ragsdale was runner-up for the second straight year. In the women's race Jenn Shelton who received a late entry at the thirteenth hour won in 3:15.01 setting a new course record. Shelton who was injured and out-of-shape was never challenged in the race. Abigail Stephens was runner-up over twelve minutes behind.

He won his first appearance in 1979, and he has attended the 28 races since then. In addition to the victory in his debut, Balding won in 1986 and 1994, at age 57.
