Yun Bok Suh (Korea) - 2:25:39
Boston Marathon, Boston, USA

Near the finish of the 1947 Boston Marathon, Yun Bok Suh of Korea was knocked to the ground by a dog on Heartbreak Hill. Despite a serious gash and a broken shoelace, Suh returned to his feet, caught up to and passed leader Mikko Hietanen of Finland and went on to set a world record of 2:25:39. Suh was the first Asian to compete in the Boston Marathon, arriving there on funds donated by American servicemen.
