I run five days and lift two. On a purely egotistical level, I lift because I like the way my body looks. On another level, running is a very imbalanced activity. Lifting helps maintain a certain level of muscular balance. And I find my legs are fresher the day after lifting.

As for how much to eat, I eat less protein than you. Yet, while I'm not trying to bulk up, I've seen a gradual, but steady increase in what I can lift. So I'm definitely not losing anything by eating less protein.

Again, it all comes back to what you want - run fast, bulk up, or somewhere in between.
