But generally, you need to be in very good shape to be efficient in running hills. There is a race I used to do every year at just about this time of year - a 20 k thing with steep and rather scarry hills between kilometers 8 and 14. Last year I had trained like never before and, honest, this time I didn't even notice the hills. When we are not at excellent condition we will overestimate the challenge of a hill...
