4 hours for my first marathon?

Hi everone,

I am training for my first marathon in October for about 2 months now. I reached 17 miles per week, and did a 7 mile long run yesterday at a 8:44 min/mile pace (I usually run more slowly on my long runs, but I wanted to test myself how I was doing). I ended up pretty tired and sore, and my last mile was much slower (9:15).

I am 32 year man, and I was wondering if it is OK for me to target finishing the marathon in less than 4 hours (less than a 9:10 pace). If so, should I try to sustain the 9:10 pace in long runs, or should I go more slowly and push harder my tempo runs and speed work runs?

I appreciate your help.

Renato
