Thanks for the response ladies. After finally giving in & getting an xray & MRI, I had more issues going on than the hamstring problem. I developed a tendinitis where the hamstring tear was & also had a large labral tear around the hip joint. Stretching, strengthening, lots of ice & heat are making a difference. The sports med doc I saw didn't recommend surgery for the labral tear. Most will heal on their own if you are patient enough & keep strengthening the hip area.
