I just ran a marathon on February 15 and had an first time experience of my legs shutting completely down on mile 17. I had a decent split of about 2:30 and basically had to walk the last nine miles and finished just under 4:30. I broke a rule that no marathoner should ever break and that is to go outside of what you normally do on preperation for a marathon - I was taking Advil for the two days previous including the day of the marathon as a preventive. Someone suggested this to me as a way to reduce pain and swelling - not that I ever really had this.
Sorry for the long setup but my question is can taking Advil like that have adverse effects or is that nonsense? I cannot atribute the complete shutdown to anything else.
Does anyone have a cooment on this?
Thanks Tom
