One thing that will help with your follow through is to join a training group if there is one available in your area. I did my first marathon 9 months ago after training totally on my own. I'm training for my second one with a group and it is much more fun to do your long runs with a group. You also get the benefit of the experience of the people you are training with. Training for my first marathon taught me a lot about myself (even at 47)and completing the marathon hooked me on running. I'm 30 pounds lighter than when I started training 19 months ago so there have been some side benefits for my general health as well. YOU CAN DO THIS. Start slow and avoid getting injured and you will be hooked before you know it.
