Congrats to signing up for your first marathon! :) First, I would set a goal for your marathon...do you want to finish in a certain time, or are you looking to just finish? A great book I used for my first marathon was "4 months to a 4 hour marathon." It was perfect for a new marathoner...the workouts built up nicely over time so you weren't over straining yourself. They also have some good tips about marathon day in there. And, I ran my marathon in exactly 4 hours - go figure! :) I recommend this book to all first-time marathoners! Good luck and happy running!
