Transfering race numbers ...

OK, I posted this same message in the "For Sale" section under "Flying Pig", but got no response. Here it is again ... I wish someone would explain to me WHY transfering a number is so "bad", as long as you're not in a position to "place". Is there a SAFETY issue ??? The race director is EXPECTING a runner, and planning for that person to consume food, fluids, and other services (port-a-johns, etc.) If no one shows up, they have extras, and next time they MAY plan to use less, and then run out. Running is suppose to be FUN. If I can help another person recover some of their expense when they know they can't make the race, AND I get a good deal in the process, tell me what the problem is !?!?!? ... NOTE: If you ARE going to place, overall or in your division, this is a TOTALLY different issue !!! Hey, use some common sense and DON'T knock someone else out of an award that they deserve !!! ... Also, if you're selling a hard-to-get number for PROFIT, I have a problem with that.
