Thanks John, some of those ARE valid points. I know in NY, they allow you to exchange a current year number for an entry in next year's event, but you STILL have to pay next year's registration fee. But, it does allow for someone else waiting in line to use your number. Hmmm ... What about when you decide that you can't run just a few days before the race and there isn't really time to notify someone that they're the next one in line ??
I guess a deeper question might be, "Why does a race director make such a big deal out of transferring a number and threaten to DQ both people ?" I work with a group that times races using the ChampionChip system, and it's not very difficult for *US* to change the sex, age, or name of a participant. Are most races on so strict of a budget, that the director WANTS some people to NOT show up ???
Guess MY point is that I wish EVERYONE could be reasonable !!! ... AND, thanks for the website, John. I really enjoy it, and the discussions ...
