blisters after six miles not normal...

Blisters are normal for some people. I happen to be one of them BUT there are ways to minimize them. I don't believe you should be getting blisters at 6 miles. It sounds like you have an ill fitting shoe which is probably the most common mistake for first time runners. Sounds like you have a high arch shoe and a low arch foot. Get fit for a proper shoe at a GOOD running store. They should be able to tell you if you are a neutral runner, supinator or pronator. They should also be able to recommend a shoe for your arch. If all else fails, you can tape or use mole skin for hot spots. You can also try double layer socks...wright sock makes a good lite one. Good luck! Keep up the good work. PS-let blisters heal a bit before running again.
