I don't know the answer, but it does make me think about the time when it was thought women shouldn't run the marathon either. We see that was absolutely wrong. I wonder how young do the Kenyan's start running ultra long distances? Also, if we start kids younger and let them build up at an earlier age, will distance like the marathon really be that stressful? Will their bodies adapt? Or will it damage the growth plates? What proof does anyone have that it would in fact be bad or are we just guessing? Has any study actually been done or is it just theory?
