Hi Everyone, I am a somewhat stubborn though rational marathon runner (only ran one) training for NY. I did something dumb by playing indoor soccer once a week and last Thursday sprained my ankle pretty badly. I promise. NO more soccer from here on out. I was good by icing the injury immediately (and often over the next two days) which alleviated some of the swelling. It bruised up nicely but I was able to walk without limping on it a day later.
The bruises are going away and my Doc looked at it and suggested I take a month of it.
I test jogged a mile yesterday and I thought it was ok. Today, I'm going to run 3 light repeat miles at the track. Do you think I should actually take a month off from running? or, is light running for the next week (or two) and then a gradual shift to my training reasonable? I honestly feel ready to run hard now, but I know I should be careful. Are there any serious risks I will "run" into by running now if I am running at a lighter pace?
