Distance running is forward locomotion, not side to side like most all other sports, so it's quite possible for you to continue running as long as you don't aggravate it again.

Stay off hills, uneven surfaces, and foresake speedwork until all swelling subsides. Ice after each run, and again before bed. Take it day by day though.
