TRAINING ADVISE

I have a coach who's helping me train for the LaSalle Chicago Martahon, my first marathon ever because I am really a beginner (I started running Oct 06 first time in my life). I injured myself early April and could not train until June. Since then I've followed my training schedule accurately except for one week due to stomach illness. Now my coach is asking me to do double long runs on weekends, ingreasing mileage, since I lost time: for example, 6 miles on Saturday & 6 miles on Sunday, next weekend 8 miles Sunday & 8 miles Saturday. I do speed work twice a week. I've been feeling a little tired and I don't want to get injured again. I've read that is not good to excercise prior to a long run, and now I do a long run precisely the day after one. Is this wrong?, Sould I limit my training to one long run per weekend?
