Boston Qualifying...Tough Business

Here's the deal, am 0 for 6 in my marathon efforts trying to qualify for Boston...I ran a 3:23:45 in chicago last fall/06 and needed a 3:20:00. I ran a 3:22:07 in Cape Cod in 2001 and needed a 3:15. The other 4 were between 3:29 and 3:42. I have done speed work galore, 400's, yasso 800's..., 1200's..have run several long runs in a season, 7 last year including fast finish long runs. Tempo's... Mileage was up to 50 mile per week avg. last year with a couple of 60's. I've run under 1:30 for 2 half marathon efforts going into marathon's predicting that I would qualify with plenty of room to spare. I am athletic, I played hoops for years, football, some rugby and this is driving me NUTS that I can't seem to hit the qualifying time. I started running at age 36 and am now 42. 5 ft. 11 inches about 180lbs on race day usually. I always bonk and lose it somewhere during the last 10k if not sooner. I don't get it... Have been trying for six years now, with 3 of the years in serious contention for doing it. The other years I was not training enough. Anyone else out there struggling like this or have any thoughts?
