I never thought I would put a post up, I really enjoy reading them. But I'm in a predicament that warrants some advice. Although I've run for 5 or 6 years I've never had a serious goal in mind. In February a friend and I decided to do a marathon. We picked Grandma's and ran together. I over- trained and ending up injuring my foot (I'm an overachiever) She also realized that she had a conflict that weekend so asked if I minded if we pushed it back. She paid for the cost of the missed marathon. I took 2 weeks off from running and my foot felt great. I stuck to a formal training careful not to overtrain. We set our new goal for August. Sure enough she doesn't think that this will work. She has already run a marathon in the past so I don't think she has that drive I have to complete this goal I've set for myself. Sorry for the book, but my question is, should I run it alone or wait and hope that 3rd time is a charm. I guess the thought of doing it alone is very daunting, and not necessarily the distance. It's just not being familiar with the process, how it all works. Doing it all alone for the first time just sounds scary! Any advice would be appreciated!
