I think I even remember an explanation, the increased blood flow tickles receptors that interpret "itch".
Something like that.
Anyway, it happens to me when I'm working a new set of muscles, I get very itchy. It's happened to me when I run (legs) and when I box (arms). I take a Claritin 10 mg tab prior to leaving and it really helps.
Also, for me it's temporary, it only happens a few days/weeks, then my body gets used to the change and no more itching.
