Good Evening Everyone: I do usually do this but my wife and I feel so strong about the issue of Breast Cancer we are asking for your help. My wife (Megan Price) is in training to day the 3 Day Walk for Breast Cancer in August where she is walking 3 days of 20 miles a day. The only problem is that we are falling way short on donations. This will be her 2 walk and she is walking with the CHAAMPS team out of Chapel Hill, NC. We are both avid marathoners and would never ask for anything unless we knew it was going to a great and mighty cause. I have posted Megan's letter below. If anyone would be willing to help us out in anyway we would be greatly appreciated. Thank everyone in advance for taking the time to read this message. Always keep moving!!! Shannon Price
_______________________________________ Dear Friends and Family:
Last year I had the pleasure of participating in the Boston Breast Cancer 3-Day. The Breast Cancer 3-Day is a 60 mile walk fundraiser sponsored by the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. In order to participate, walkers need to raise $2,200. I am honored to share I reached my goal last year and was able to contribute $2,200 to breast cancer research. My team, CHAAMPS, raised over $50,000 and the Boston event alone raised over $4.2 million. $4.2 million!!! And the Boston event was just one of twelve events that occurred across the United States in the Summer and Fall of 2006. During the Breast Cancer 3-Day in Boston last August, I learned just how prevalent the disease is. Breast cancer affects the lives of everyone. As the second leading cause of death of women in the United States, breast cancer touches our mothers, aunts, grandmothers, sisters, friends, and loved ones. Not only does breast cancer affect the women in our lives but it affects men too. In fact, one person is diagnosed with breast cancer every 3 minutes. And, breast cancer is extremely aggressive leaving many children without mothers, men without wives, and mothers without sons. The fight against breast cancer is a personal to me. My Great-Grandmother Ava, Aunt Donna, Dear Friend Marguerite, and High School Best Friend Anna have all been diagnosed with breast cancer. Most of these amazing women are survivors. So, I was under the false impression that breast cancer is a commonly curable disease. Last year, I learned just how wrong I was. Many men and women who are diagnosed with breast cancer are not as fortunate as my loved ones they do not survive the disease. Sadly, one person dies of breast cancer every 14 minutes. Although at first this news set me back, I am now more motivated than ever to make a difference. As I learned last year, with your help, I CAN make a difference. Please join me in the fight against breast cancer by sponsoring me in the Chicago Breast Cancer 3-Day. To learn more, or to contribute, please visit my website: www.the3day.org/chicago07/megprice. Should you wish to contribute, you may do so on-line or via mail with the enclosed self-addressed envelope and form. Thank you for your time and attention to my message. Megan
