What are your feelings about drinking coffee before a race? There has been alot of scientific research on this subject in recent years—most of which tends to support the theory that 12-16 ounces prior to a race will provide you with a caffeine boost as well as a delay in the onset of muscle fatigue. Just wondering what everyone else's thoughts are on this topic. Myself, I am a daily coffee drinker and I always drink a cup or two before a race without any ill effects. Also, I always seem train better and run longer after drinking some coffee. There was quite a heated and spirited debate on this subject on the SunTrust Richmond Marathon website before they took the message board down after last year's race.
