I'd suggest picking up the book "Protein Power" -- it's about $12 paperback. It talks about metabolism, and why adequate protein and staying away from carbs that screw up your insulin/glycogen balance can fix your metabolism for good. Even if you go off training. (Of course, training for a marathon is great -- but nothing is going to "fix your blood balances" unless you get your food chemistry intake in order)
