Just enter several marathons, say two to three per season. The training by itself will help you lose weight. Also, your taste in food will change, so that you will appreciate carbohydrates more than fats. Once you start racing, you will almost automatically lose more weight because weight loss is one of the easiest ways to improve your PR.
There is one downside. You can't quit. I've pretty much taken December off as a recovery from the Fall 2001 marathon season, and my weight has ballooned by 7 or 8 pounds. Don't let that happen to you!
Good luck.
