I hear you on the advice re: strength. I will wait and see what develops.
I run a two loop 12 near home. I was two miles in when I noticed black ice and ran carefully for the next 4 home. Came in and ran the last six on the treadmill. I feel better having done the six outside but the last thing I need is a nasty fall.
My little one started full day kindergarten this past September so I now have unlimited opportunities to train. I'm in much better shape then I have been for years and I think that it has a lot to do with the fact that I've learned so much about myself and my body through the last 5 marathons. All of them have been PR's (remember though that I'm slow-ish (around 4:30/4:40) except the last one. I found I wasn't as motivated as the previous ones. I don't think that I was mentally and physically prepared and I my time suffered. With the help of this board I am already excited to do longer runs and feel more focused. I want to prove that I'm getting better - not older!
Runkelly, you are an inspiration.
