I have suffered with many blisters, too, on my toes and bunions (inside of foot, below the big toes). One thing that worked great for me was to put wide adhesive tape on the stops that usually get blisters, before the marathons. For the toes, I wrap a narrow piece over the toe, from front to back, and then a narrow piece around the toe, to hold it in place. Use tape that is strong and sure not to shift in place. I usually wrap all but the baby toe! Makes an interesting photo!
However, I have still gotten blisters sometimes, so I went to the local running store, where the clerks are very knowedgable (Bob Ronkers Running Spot, in Cincinnati), and the young lady put me in a new line of shoes. I had been buying the same shoe for years, and getting blisters for years. Well, just did an 18 miler today, without a single bit of tape, and no blisters! I'm very pleased.
It's worth a try. Good luck.
