Being a South Florida runner preparing for my first Boston in 1993 worried me. First of all South Florida is flat, we run bridges for hill training. Repeats on bridges in the heat takes the fun out of running. But on raceday at Boston when I saw the Citgo red sign up the way I realized that Heartbreak Hill was behind me and I never saw anything out of the ordinary. The heat that day in the low 70's as we entered downtown was brutal on the northern runners but still pleasant to us Tropical Runners. Enjoy it.
