How I agree with Hopkinton!

When I first decided I was going to run Boston, all I had in mind was Heartbreak Hill (hadn't even heard yet about the Killer Chains!). So I mustered all my good will and training aptitudes to prepare accordingly (i.e. to face them uphills!). One day, I'm with my friends who own the running shoe store I go to (these places are like genuine old-day general stores, where you hang out and gossîp...) and I'm explaining about all those Hill repeats I'm doing and Bert says, "do 'em downhill, you'll need the experience before you go to Boston". How right he was!

Because I had incorporated downhill training I was better prepared for Boston, and I'll be ever-thankful to Bert.

This year will be even better 'cause now I've seen the course.

Good luck (and don't start too fast!)
