With 35,000 expected this year, you can guarantee a slower time. Last year, my friend and I just wanted to have fun...lined up where we could. It took us 14 minutes to cross the starting line!!! We didn't even hear the gun or the start! We laughed and said Kalid had already done 3 miles! Also, don't count on the gels at 16 or 18 miles. Totally gone when I got there and I finished at 4:30! HOWEVER, if you are willing to sit/stand, you can get up in the coral behind the elites...not the 2nd coral which is seeded behind the elites, but the next one. It will be packed the entire way...but fun for a first one...not necessarily a time oriented one.
