Would I have pain on the top of my foot with this problem? I've been to a doctor regarding pain on the top of my foot (directly opposite my arch) and she is leaning toward the problem being plantar faciitis. She is not a physical therapist or an orthopedic doc. I'm skeptical of this diagnosis with what I know about plantar faciitis (admittedly very little). She told me how to stretch and gave me inserts and I still have pain - 1-2 months later. Usually first thing in the morning when I take my first few steps of the day and the pain is a sharp pain. I don't really have pain when I run, but soon after if I step just the "right" way. Could this be something else? I've had stress fractures but I am not experiencing the same kind of dull, all-day, pain.
