Habsfan, your goal of breaking 3 hours evapored with every 6:30 you ran in the first half. (Hindsight is wonderful, isn't it?) Seriously, those 6:30 miles were 15 seconds faster than the pace plan would have had you run miles 1 - 12. (In fact, 6:30 translates to 2:50 pace!!!)

It sounds like you do possess the speed to break 3. Distributing your effort more evenly is the big trick on race day.

Let me tell you a secret. I started racing better times the moment I followed Meyers pacing table 12 years ago. I write all my miles down on a band and tape it to my wrist. It keeps me in check during the adrenaline-filled early miles. And in the later miles, I get so much confidence knowing this plan is bringing me home on target. It almost feels like cheating.
