Good for you! You will find this not only a challenging experience, but a very rewarding one as well. You have started correctly - by allowing yourself enough time to slowly build mileage and condition your body. Your miles per week and weekly long runs are the most important factors - not necessarily speed/pace. Hal Higdon has a great training program available (free) at his website - www.halhigdon.com. I used his beginner training program for my first marathon and had great results. Have fun!
