Yesterday while coming through the chutes a few of us joked about what we would do next. I said I might use my seldom used Jacuzzi. The lady behind me said don't do it, that she was a physical therapist, and a hot tub should not be used until the second day after a marathon. I did it anyway and the Jacuzzi felt great (mine is a very large bathtub with four jets).
One, does anyone know why a soak in a hot water is bad immediately after a marathon?
Two, what does theory say about my normal recovery, a (very) slow 10k jog each day for several days following the marathon?
