Fellow women runners (that sounds like an oxy-moron!), please help!

I've been a runner on and off since middle school, now I'm 25 and training more seriously that I ever have since high school track. I do speedworkouts, distance workouts, and some strength training/ calistentics. I take one day a week off. I'm following a healthy diet, mostly salad and fruits, which is a big changed because I used to be a junk food junky.

After about 8 weeks of training and eating well, I've lost 10lb and about 5 inches, and I feel great, physically and mentally. The only problem is that I'm getting stretch marks! I can *see* them come -- in the beginning they're like a rash or a cat scratch, with a bunch of little scabs in a row, and then the scabs go away and it's a stretch mark! I've gotten three that I can see in the last two weeks -- two on my hips, where I've had light stretch marks since college, but these are a bit higher, and one smaller one on my *stomach*, where I've never had any stretch marks, ever! :(

I'm very distressed because I don't want them, they're ugly. I don't even know if it outweighs the benefits of getting into better shape! (It's not like I was grossly overweight before -- I could stand to lose about 20lb and I've lost 10 so far.)

Has this happened to any of you? Is it because I'm running *too* much? Should I tone it down a bit so I don't lose too much weight too fast and get more stretch marks? Is there something that works best to hide them? I've tried Avon Stretch Mark & Cellulite cream but it doesn't seem to do much. The best way I've seen to hide them is with pure cocoa butter. Of course they're still there, so I was hoping there was more of a "magic" cure?

Thanks so much, I appreciate any advice anyone can give me. :)
