I just finished my first marathon yesterday in St. Louis in 3:54:41 and am thinking about running Houston as my second marathon on January 20. I am trying to figure out how to maintain my trianing until then. I will add some speed work to try to beat that time, but I am not sure what my training schedule should be -- specifically, what should my long runs be during the 3 months and what should my weekly mileage be? Since I live in Chicago, I will need to let the weather dictate them some what, but was looking for advice.
My current thinking is to take the next month fairly light, and then start with long runs of 10 miles or so and build from there over the last 2 months.
Any thoughts?
